CARF International announced that Community Support Services has been accredited for a period of three years for all of its programs including an exemplary status for its Health Home program. Community Support Services is the first in the nation to be accredited by CARF as a Health Home. A health home is a health care delivery approach focused on the whole person providing integrated healthcare coordination including primary care and behavioral healthcare. Recently, the Ohio Department of Mental Health announced its plan to begin funding health homes in Ohio. With this accreditation by CARF, Community Support Services is well-poised to be designated as a Health Home for persons in Summit County in 2013.
This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process. It has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit its commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.
Community Support Services has provided comprehensive behavioral healthcare to the residents of Summit County since August 1988. In 2008, Community Support Services opened the Margaret Clark Morgan Integrated Care Clinic in an effort to improve health outcomes for persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
