For persons receiving benefits (SSI/SSD) from the Social Security Administration and with a demonstrated need of assistance with money management, Community Support Services offers a representative payee program.
A Benefits Specialist or the case manager will develop and periodically review a budget with persons assigned to payee services to ensure rent, utilities, and other basic needs are met. Most persons receiving payee services will use a debit card to access discretionary funds.
A primary intent of the program is to assist persons to live independently through responsible living and money management.
Community Support Services also provides representative payee services for individuals referred by Adult Protective Services who are in need of assistance with money management. The Benefits Specialist is the primary contact for persons referred by Adult Protective Services.
