Counseling at CSS is offered under the umbrella of Intensive Treatment Services (ITS). ITS provides additional support and education to clients, empowering the recovery process by emphasizing choice, self-advocacy and strengths.

ITS includes individual counseling and group treatment. Groups offered range from anger management to co-occurring disorders and also include coping-skills groups for addressing grief, incorporating music into one's recovery and using therapeutic journaling. Group treatment also includes a half-day intensive day treatment program for those needing stabilization following a hospitalization or an acute psychiatric episode.

Co-occurring treatment offers a variety of options for clients living with both mental health and substance use disorders. Substance use disorder (SUD) assessments are used to determine the most appropriate care. Psychiatric providers can prescribe medications to help minimize cravings or prevent withdrawal symptoms for certain substances (also known as Medication-Assisted Treatment or MAT). The integrated, person-centered treatment focuses developing recovery goals tailored to individual needs, building motivation for change, supporting both the mental health and substance use recovery, and offering peer support in a judgement-free space. Group-based recovery support options include treatment readiness, co-occurring day treatment (Intensive Outpatient Program-IOP), and relapse prevention. To begin treatment, one must be an active client of CSS, obtain a referral from their psychiatric provider or case manager, and have a referral submitted to the SUD administrator.
