Alfred McMoore is remembered as an artist, a professional mourner, a friend, and the man who inspired the name of Akron’s Grammy-Award-winning band, The Black Keys. Alfred also lived with schizophrenia. With support from his psychiatrists, case managers, therapists, and other staff at Community Support Services, Alfred enjoyed a meaningful and robust life. Now his life and artwork are being celebrated at Akron Art Museum with the exhibit “Alfred McMoore: All This Luck in My Head.” We are honored to have contributed some of his original artwork to the exhibit.

The museum will have a special daylong event dedicated to Alfred, mental health and well-being Jan. 15 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Alfred McMoore Day: A Free Celebration of Activities will feature art-making activities, exhibit tours, and panel discussions on mental health and local support - including Keith Stahl, CSS Director of Operations and Residential Services. An itinerary can be found on the art museum's website.

"Alfred McMoore: All This Luck in My Head" is on display through Feb. 15.
