After facing severe health challenges due to a toxic living environment and navigating an abrupt period of housing instability at 72 years old, MaryEllen found a path forward through her own determination and a strong support network.

Following a hospital stay, MaryEllen connected with Community Support Services through a geriatric case manager who helped secure transitional housing. From there, CSS clinical teams provided essential psychiatric care and ongoing support to ensure her well-being.

Demonstrating immense resilience and focus, MaryEllen successfully saved enough money for her own apartment security deposit. Working hand-in-hand with her dedicated family members-who helped find, furnish, and stock her new home-she successfully transitioned into her own independent space. Today, MaryEllen is proudly celebrating three and a half years of steady recovery, health, and independence in a safe home of her own.
